New Delhi: Forward Yuvraj Walmiki made a comeback to India colours as Hockey India announced an 18-man squad for the Hockey World League (HWL) Final to be played in the capital's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from January 10-18.
The team, led by captain Sardar Singh, also includes young forward Affan Yousuf who was overlooked for the Asian Champions Trophy after being the vice captain of the triumphant Sultan of Johor Cup campaign last year.
PR Sreejesh has been appointed Sardar's deputy for the tournament that also includes Germany, Australia, Netherlands, England, Belgium, New Zealand and Argentina - besides hosts India.
Speaking on the squad, Hockey India Secretary General Dr. Narinder Batra said, "It's a great opportunity for every player to be playing this tournament. This will prove to be an ideal platform which is right before the World Cup, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. Also this will be a big platform for young players in the team."
