MADURAI: A day after CPM politburo member Brinda Karat rapped police for delay in the arrest of a school headmaster accused of sexually abusing children, the investigation officer in the case was changed on Sunday.According to highly-placed sources, Inspector Maria Glory was relieved from all duties regarding the case through an oral order. Surya Kala, Inspector, All Women Police Station, Samayanallur, was instructed to take over the case.Glory had allegedly called the affected kids for interrogation at night and coerced a victim’s mother to show the houses of other victims in Podhumbu near here.Five girls, who had filed complaint, were allegedly intimidated by police.Meanwhile, Virudhunagar SP Najmul Hoda visited the village and interacted with the villagers. Hoda, who is holding the additional charge for Madurai Rural, met the families and said that the victims were being disturbed by anti-social elements. Dindigul DIG Sanjay Mathur also came to the Koodal Nagar Police station where he met the families of the victims.All India Democratic Women’s Association rural district secretary S K Ponnuthai also met the DIG and explained the plight of the families, who are being further victimised by the police and anti-social elements. The DIG suggested the victims to record this as a complaint and lodge the same with the police.Headmaster Arockiasamy is still at large.
