TUMKUR: The stories carried by 'Express' about the three virtually orphan girls have created a positive chain reaction as days after the local MLA offered his help to the girls, a state minister came forward help the colony in which they lived.
The three siblings Saraswathi(7), Manjula (5) and Laksmi (1) proved lucky for the poor residents of SLN Nagara colony as their story drew Social Welfare Minister A Narayanaswamy to the colony on Saturday.The Minister, who inspected the colony, largely occupied by dalits, promised to pool funds from the state and Central governments to construct decent houses for 230 people living in dilapidated houses.

The home of the siblings too is included in the list. He also took decisions on the spot to initiate the programme at the earliest.

The minister adopted the siblings and announced `50,000 towards their educational expenses. Tumkur MLA Sogadu Shivanna contributed `10,000.
