Heavy showers in Vellore

VELLORE:  Rains lashed Vellore city on Friday, as cyclone Thane made landfall between Puduchery and Cuddalore.On Friday morning, the city experienced strong winds and heavy showers. However, this didn’t cause much damage in the city. Only few trees were uprooted and some roadside banners were pulled  down by the strong winds. Traffic was also affected as rainwater collected in low-lying areas. However, no untoward incident was reported.Helpline: District collector S Nagarajan has appealed to officials attached to all the line departments to be prepared to take action in case any damage is reported in the aftermath of cyclone Thane. Hourly reports about the cyclone management is to be made to helpline number 1077 .
