Heavy rains and thundershowers today lashed Uttar Pradesh where major rivers are flowing above the danger level. Faizabad recorded maximum rainfall of 7 mm, followed by 6 mm each in Sultanpur, Phulpur, Lalganj and 5 mm in Bahraich.

Central Water Commission officials said Ganga is flowing above the danger level at Phaphamau (Allahabad), Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia. It is flowing close to the red mark at Fatehpur, Ankin Ghat (Kanpur dehat), Kanpur, Chatnag and Mirzapur.

Yamuna is flowing near the red mark at Prayag Ghat, Naini and Sharna, and above the danger mark at Palia Kalan. Ghaghra is also flowing close to the danger mark at Elgin Bridge (Barabanki), Ayodhya and Turtipar, the officials said.
