BANGALORE: A High Court judge on Thursday recused himself from hearing the petition filed by former CM H D Kumaraswamy, who had sought to quash the proceedings against him in a Special Lokayukta court.Earlier, Justice B V Pinto directed the complainant, advocate Vinod Kumar, to appear before the court as he suspected him to be his junior. It later transpired that Vinod had been Justice Pinto’s junior indeed and had worked under him for a week. Following this on Thursday, Justice Pinto recused himself from the case, and referred the case to the Chief Justice for assignment to an another bench.The Special Lokayukta court had issued summons to Kumaraswamy on a private plea, alleging him to be involved in two cases of corruption. The former chief minister is accused of allotting land in bulk to Vishwabharathi House Building Co-Operative Society following which the society had allotted a site in his wife Anita’s favour.In another instance, Kumaraswamy is accused of permitting a mining firm, Jantakal Private Enterprises, to lift one lakh metric tonnes of iron ore during his tenure as chief minister for pecuniary gain.
