Dissident leader says the former PM doesn’t care about the party and supports “communal alliance” in Karnataka.

New Delhi: Suspended JD(S) leader M P Veerendra Kumar on Thursday said that the real party was with him and his suspension was on “expected lines”.

"I am not surprised by the move. The National Executive has been convened on December 22 in Thiruvananthapuram, and we would suspend H D Deve Gowda (former prime minister) from the party and he would be dethroned from the presidentship," said Kumar, a Lok Sabha member from Calicut, Kerala.

A parliamentary party meeting of the JD(S) suspended Kumar on Thursday for dissidence and abusing Gowda.

"I stick to whatever I said. If at all there is something derogatory, it is from Gowda. He has violated the party line by silently supporting his son’s (Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy) government and parting away from the party line of keeping a distance from the communal forces," Kumar said.

"It is a curious situation. His (Gowda’s) JD(S) is Janata Dal (Suspended). Everyone in the party, except Gowda and 38-40 MLAs, has been suspended in Karnataka."

"Gowda is less interested with the integrity of the party and more with the consolidation of his family," he alleged.
