BELGAUM: Over 30 people suffered from gastroenteritis following consumption of polluted water at Dhupadal village of Gokak taluk on Thursday.It is said that villagers were supplied water from Hidkal dam instead of the usual Ghatprabha river and because of this change, villagers suffered from vomiting and dysentery.Officials of health department rushed to village and the treated patients in the local government school. Panchayat officials instructed all hotel and bar owners to provide boiled water to customers.District Health Officer Dr NS Biradar visited the water treatment unit and instructed the local officials to take all meausures to check the problems. Meanwhile, samples of water have been sent to Belgaum for laboratory test. As many 30 health department officials are taking care of villagers.Ninteen people have been admitted to Karnataka Arogya Dhama and JG Hospital of Ghatprabha.Belgaum ZP President Iranna Kadadi and Gokak Tahsildar also visited the village.
