Ganesh idols with a difference
This year some ardent devotees have come up with unique idols of Lord Ganesh.

Mumbai: Ganesh Chaturthi festivities continue in Mumbai and adding colour to the celebrations this time are the varieties of idols that are on offer.

In this season of festive fervour, people are displaying their devotion to Ganpati in a unique way. Like Rama Shah, who differs from all others since he holds the record for creating Ganesha idols blindfolded and hundreds of them every day. In fact this 39-yr-old ardent Lord Ganesha devotee can create idols in a pista shell or Ganesha's on swing or the ones on marbles and on envelops.

Says Rama Shah, “I am making idols for the last 9 years for my own satisfaction and not for commercial purpose. It brings peace to my mind and heart."

Rama Shah is however not alone in making idols with a difference. Business firm, ‘Ma Passion’ has also come up with a wide range of idols carved from precious gemstones like, rubies, sapphires, and topazes, ranging from 3 to 24 inches in height. They make idols of a wide range, some of which are as light as 100 grams while others a lot heavier at 200 kilograms.

Dinesh Poddar, owner of ‘Ma Passion’ said, "We get our gemstone from all over the world and then our artisans work on it in Jaipur."

So this time while paying respects to Lord Ganesha, when people go out to bring home the idol, they can choose from miniature Ganesha idols to majestic gemstone ones.
