THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A section dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi will be established at the Golden Jubilee Museum of the Kerala Assembly. A large portion of an entire floor of the new building of the museum will be dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Speaker G Karthikeyan has said.It will have on display photographs, artifacts and other memorabilia on Mahatma Gandhi. Among the exhibits planned are stamps brought out by various countries on Gandhiji and books on him. Photographs of his momentous visits to Kerala, front pages of newspapers which carried the reports of his visits, rare photographs etc are to be included in the museum.The reason for setting up an exclusive section on Mahatma Gandhi is that the museum has hundreds of visitors daily, among them school students. The Assembly is also exploring the possibility of obtaining artifacts used by Gandhi.Assembly officials have contacted museums in New Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat in this regard. A portion of the museum will have on display souvenirs received by political leaders such as A K Antony and E K Nayanar which were donated to the museum.The museum will have touch screens so that visitors can have a quick look-see at the history of the Assembly, the chief ministers and ministers of Kerala and other details.
