New Delhi: Ram Gopal Varma's last film 'Not A Love Story' bombed at the box office, but the filmmaker is all set to go public with his new film 'Department'. The film has high production values due to the presence of A-list actors in it. 'Department' has Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati, and Madhu Shalini in prominent roles. Model turned actor Nathalia Kaur has done an item number in the film.
The promos of the film suggest that 'Department' is based on the nexus between the Mumbai Police and the underworld. It's not the first film that Ram Gopal Varma has made on this theme. 'Company' and 'Contract' focussed on the alliance of criminals with the local police. RGV produced films such as 'Ab Tak Chappan', 'D', and 'Shiva' on the same subject.
Known for unconventional cinematography in his films, RGV has always given his own touch to his stories. Be it the camera angle or be it the one liners, RGV's characters never become larger than life, in fact he always tries to focus on the fact that the nature or the supreme power has its strange ways of doing the poetic justice.
'Department' is Amitabh Bachchan's sixth film with Varma. They have earlier worked in 'Sarkar', 'Sarkar Raj', 'Department', 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag', and 'Rann'. Even Sanjay Dutt is not new for the RGV camp. He has done 'Daud' with him in the past.
One song of the film 'Dan dan cheeni' has already become the chartbusters, and people are waiting for Nathalia Kaur's performance as the item girl. RGV has earlier introduced heroines such as Eesha Koppikhar, Koena Mitra, Urmila Matondkar and Nisha Kothari in the past.
Ram Gopal Varma has given some of the memorable films in the history of Indian cinema like 'Satya', 'Company', 'Rangeela' and 'Sarkar', thus the spectators would be hoping for another intense film from the storyteller.
