Jaipur: A four-year-old boy fell into a borewell on Monday while playing in Jagatpura village of Shahpura town of the district, nearly 40 kms from Jaipur.
Rescue operations have been started to take the boy Sahil out of the 280 ft deep borewell safely, officials said.
A team of doctors have also reached the spot, they said.
Four machines have started digging work at a distance of some 20 feet from the borewell which is about one-and-a-half feet broad, officials said, adding district administration has asked for another machine for the purpose from National Highway Authority of India.
Nothing is clear about the condition of the boy, they said, adding, however oxygen is being supplied in the borewell started through a pipe.
Efforts were on to rescue the child and the administration was in contact with army for technical advice, District Collector Kuldeep Ranka said.
Police, district administration and medical department officials are on the spot who with the help of locals are making efforts to rescue the child, he said.
The borewell belongs to Sahil's family, which was closed earlier. But on Sunday, the boy's father, Laxman Singh, and his grandfather, Bhanwar Singh, got 13 pipes of 20 feet each out from the borewell.
After completing the task they left it open and were to fill it on Monday with some debris and soil. But the boy fell into it before they could do the same, the officials said.
Till now, nearly 25 feet ground parallel to the borewell has been dug with the help of seven JCB machines, an official said, adding the boy is stuck around 150 feet down.
Meanwhile, CCTV cameras were being arranged to look at the present status of the boy, an official said.
"The movement of the boy could not be known, so we are not certain about his condition. However, we are giving him a steady supply of oxygen," Block CMHO of Kotputli, Mahesh Singhal said. He is supervising the medical arrangements at the site.
In June this year, a four-year-old girl, Anju had fallen in a 48 ft deep borewell while playing in Moradi village of Dausa district, but was taken out safely after a rescue operation of nearly 19 hours.
