The Erode circle conservator of forests has been accused of misbehaving with a college girl.
According to a complaint lodged with Andhiyur police on Wednesday, the complainant, an MCA student in a private college at Gobi, took a bus from her native place and arrived at the Central Bus Stand here around 3.30 am.
While she was waiting for a bus to Andhiyur bus, the forest official, Arun, came in a car and asked her to accompany him. When she refused and boarded a bus, he followed and took a seat next to her. The forest official was allegedly in an inebriated state. The girl then sent SMSes to her uncle and sister in Andhiyur.
They immediately came to the Andhiyur bus stand and took Arun to the police station. Later, Andhiyur forest ranger Anandan came to his rescue and following an inquiry, police got a statemen t from Arun and the girl and let the forest official go. When contacted, Arun said that he was only trying to save the girl from “some urchins, who teased her in the bus.”
