Lakshmi is glad that the critics were proved wrong as the officials concerned with the tax waiver were helpful.

It is commonly said in the film industry that getting a tax waiver for a film is not an easy process, even if filmmakers abide by the set rules. Actor-turned-director Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, who was warned about this when she applied for the waiver for her film 'Aarohanam', is glad that these critics have been proved wrong in this issue as the officials concerned with the tax waiver were very helpful and understanding!

Lakshmi visited the Commercial Taxes Department in Ezhilagam recently to enquire about the status of the tax exemption request for her film. Officials there had asked her to head to the Secretariat as files relating to Aarohanam had already been forwarded for approval with recommendation for tax exemption.

When Lakshmi enquired in the secretariat, she was informed that the file was waiting for the minister’s nod. Relieved that she didn’t have to use any influence in order to move her file up, the actor issued a statement explaining that the actual process was not the ordeal it was said to be, by many.

The 'Yudhdham Sei' actor said all officials were very polite and treated her well. They were shocked to hear about the misconception prevailing about their department, she says. For Lakshmi, it has been an eye-opener for about how government officials actually work.
