BANGALORE: Biological Science, School of Natural Science, Bangalore University conducted the ‘Inspire Internship Science Camp-2012’, by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. A five-day camp regarding integrated science brought participants in large numbers. A series of lectures pertaining to different aspects of science were given by scientists at the camp. They also discussed basic sciences and career opportunities.Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Open University, Professor K S Rangappa, emphasised the latest development in pharmaceutical research and application of basic science which can contribute to effective development of the nation. He also spoke about the lack of infrastructure in Indian universities to enhance the quality of research. Good research would have a positive impact on socio-economic status of the country, they said and gave the example of China, which is racing far ahead of India in scientific research. Participants also spoke about bringing in the concept of human values in higher education programme.Students from Madurai, Ranchi, Kolar, Channapattana, Nelamangala, Bangalore, Srinivasapura attended the three-day camp. Appreciating the endeavour, the students said that they were benefited by the camp and were overjoyed to visit the various research laboratories located on University campus.
