Five persons, including three siblings, were charred to death and 150 houses gutted on Friday in separate incidents of fire in Bihar's Lakhisarai, Begusarai and Samastipur district.

A major fire broke out in a hutment in Amhara Ramnagar Tola under Town police station area in Lakhisarai district in which three siblings, identified as Shobha Kumari (10), Chhoti Kumari (8) and Ram (6) were charred to death, police said. The incident took place while the victims' mother Rama Devi (43) was away working in a nearby field, they said, adding, that senior officials visited the spot and offered an assistance of Rs 15,000 to the grieving family for the cremation of three children under the Kabir Antayesti Yojana.

In another incident in Begusarai district, two women, identified as Pinki Devi (25) and her mother in-law Rampukari Devi (65) were burnt to death when a fire broke out in their thatched house in Dunhi village under Garhpura police station area, police said. The bodies have been sent for post mortem, they said.

In the third incident, 150 huts and thatched houses were razed to ground in Dumra village under Siniya police station area in Samastipur district on Friday, they said, adding the fire broke out in Mehboob Alam's hut and engulfed other houses in the vicinity. Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, they added.
