Tamil Nadu: A family of a one of the crew member from the hijacked ship has come forward. Ryan Lobo hails from Tamil Nadu and was a crewmember on board. His family has now spoken to the media about their fear for Ryan.

Earlier on Tuesday atleast 15 pirates were suspected to have hijacked the vessel Stolt Valor, which has 18 Indian crew members on board, before taking it to Somalia.

"As per information received one cadet of the ship made a brief call from the Master's cabin and informed the ship's agent in Singapore that at least 15 pirates had boarded the ship and were taking it to Somalia," officials said.

The vessel Stolt Valor' which bears a Hong Kong flag and carrying over 23,000 tonnes of oil products, is reported to have been hijacked in the Gulf of Aden on Monday, Directorate General of Shipping officials said.

The vessel bearing a Hong Kong flag is owned by Panama-based MS Ocean Transit Carriers and is suspected to have been hijacked near Yemen.
