PUDUCHERRY: IG J K Sharma, on Tuesday, said that the police had tracked Mohamed Jamidar Shiek, prime accused in the fake currency case, to a place in Jharkhand by tracing his cell phone signal. It also matches with the information revealed by Mohamed Ismail Sheik, one of the accused in the case, in police custody during interrogation. The cell phone of Jamidar was working till two days ago and from its signals we traced his location to the nearest tower, said the IGP. While it is suspected that Jamidar could have gone by flight, the other four associates have not been traced.During interrogation Ismail Sheik revealed a place in Malda district of West Bengal from where the fake currency was obtained, said the IGP. However, teams from Puducherry would be sent to Jharkhand and Malda only after the NIA comes and interrogates Mohamed Ismail Sheik. “We are waiting for NIA team,” he said and added that meanwhile interrogation of Sheik was going on under several teams.
