JAJPUR: The district administration has ordered an inquiry into allegations of fake beneficiaries availing of Madhubabu Pension Yojana, meant for disabled persons, in the district. The complaints were made by residents of Thanuala panchayat on Monday. A two-member committee of Additional Block Development Officer Santosh Kumar Satpathy and Gram Panchayat Officer Bharta Barik are being asked to probe, said Dharmasala BDO Madhusudan Das. He said appropriate action would be taken after submission of the report. Official sources said the Dharmasala block office had recommended 35 names of villagers belonging to Thanuala gram panchayat to the higher authorities for sanction of pension under the Yojana. The funds were accordingly sanctioned and disbursed to the beneficiaries on Monday. Later in the day, it was alleged that 14 of the beneficiaries had taken the amount by submitting forged certificates. They had taken ` 2,800 towards pension for 14 months at the rate of ` 200 a month.
