Extortion: Fake Maoists attack site supervisor

BERHAMPUR: Dandapani Nayak was allegedly attacked by two youths for refusing to pay them extortion money at Fasibandh in Sahadevtikarpada panchayat under Digapahandi block.They are part of a group which poses as Maoists for extortion. The group had earlier demanded money from Mangulu Patra, a contractor for whom Nayak worked. In an inquiry, it emerged that the youths were posers and have no links with the Maoists, following which Patra declined to accede to their demands.In retaliation, two youths barged into a construction site at Fasibandh and demanded money from site supervisor Nayak. Nayak refused to comply and was beaten up.  He was admitted to Bhismagiri hospital and later shifted to Digapahandi hospital. Police have detained Sahadev Moharana and Ramkrushna Suara for interrogation.
