Chennai: In a case of alleged molestation of an eight-year-old girl, the Chennai police have arrested a man working in a five star hotel. The man has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
The Chennai police will now have to investigate whether 24-year-old Dinesh is either a serious offender in a child molestation case or a man who was simply misunderstood.
The case against Dinesh, who worked in the housekeeping section in a five star hotel is that he attempted to molest an eight-year-old girl in the men's wash room at Chennai's Taj Coromandel hotel.
He has now been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The incident allegedly took place when the girl and her family were out for dinner on Monday night.
While the girl's uncle filed the complaint, both the girl's parents and uncle were unavailable for comment.
The police say they are investigating the case and the hotel says it will cooperate with the police.
K Murugan, the complainant’s lawyer says, " The uncle was outside and for three minutes the girl did not come out and to his shock he found the toilet door locked. When he knocked, a man opened the door and the girl was crying."
Initial reports from the hotel suggested that Dinesh was only trying to help the girl who fell down at the men's wash room when her uncle was waiting outside and it was misunderstood by the uncle.
The police will now have to find out what really happened in that washroom.
