HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy gave a green signal for upgradation of eight large gram panchayats into municipalities.The gram panchayats in the list are Gooty, Parakala, Kollapur, Devarakonda, Puttaparthy, Jangareddygudem, Nakrekal and Nagarkurnool.Currently, there are 108 municipalities and 15 municipal corporations in the state.Centre asked to allow more cotton export Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy thanked the Centre for enhancing the minimum support price (MSP) for cotton and paddy by Rs 300 and Rs 80 per quintal respectively.In separate letters addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar and Union commerce minister Anand Sharma, Kiran Kumar Reddy requested the Centre to permit exporting of an additional 10 lakh bales of cotton and also announce maximum bonus for paddy.
