New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started a probe against arrested Medical Council of India (MCI) chief Ketan Desai.
Desai's interrogation by the CBI has revealed that he had bank accounts in other countries like Dubai.
The ED is probing if the money in these accounts was transferred through hawala.
So far sleuths have been able to recover only Rs 2 crore of the Rs 8 crore bribe allegedly taken by Desai from the Gyan Sagar medical College in Patiala.
Investigators are probing if it is the rest of the money that is lying in the accounts abroad.
Desai was arrested on Thursday night by the Central Bureau of Investigation along with two other people Jiten Pal Singh and Kanwaljit Singh.
The trio had allegedly demanded bribe for granting recognition to a private medical college in Punjab.
