Pak cricket board says pacer's detention was result of a misunderstanding.
Karachi: Mohammad Asif's detention in Dubai was result of a misunderstanding and charges of possessing contraband drugs against the pacer have been dropped, according to Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE Ahsan Ullah Khan.
Khan claimed a misunderstanding led to Asif's detention at the Dubai airport on Sunday while the pacer was on his way to Pakistan from Mumbai after participating in the Indian Premier League.
Dawn newspaper quoted Khan as saying that the misunderstanding had been cleared and Asif will board the first available flight to Karachi.
Asif's lawyers were in constant touch with the Dubai prosecution office and the Pakistani missions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai provided all the required helps to Asif, Khan said.
