Draft for amendment to Article 371 in PMO

GULBARGA: The draft of the Amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution for Hyderabad-Karnataka region is in the Prime Minister’s office for consideration, highly placed sources told Express here on Thursday.After the prime minister gives consent to the Bill, it would come up for discussion in the Union Cabinet meeting. Later, the Bill would be placed in the Parliament. Sources said that there are possibilities of the Bill being presented in the ensuing Parliament session in the third week of April.Meanwhile Union minister Mallikarjun Kharge told press persons here on Thursday that some Karnataka MPs, including himself, secretary Oscar Fernandes, Jaiprakash Hegde, K H Muniyappa and G Parameshwar, met Sonia Gandhi a few days ago and apprised her on the urgency of the amendment, in the face of mounting public pressure.
