BANGALORE: Being unable to bear alleged dowry harassment by her husband, a 28-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence. The incident was reported in Kempe Gowda Layout in Rajagopalanagar police station limits on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Chaitra who was married to Umesh Babu, a financier and real estate agent, four years ago.According to police, Babu had incurred loss in his business and was harassing Chaitra to bring more dowry from her home. This had led them to quarrel over trivial issues regularly. Dejected over this, Chaitra hanged herself to the ceiling fan with her veil on Sunday night. The incident came to light on Monday morning when her husband woke up. Even the neighbours have heard the couple quarrelling on Sunday night and this has led to the incident, police said.

Chaitra's mother Vijayalakshmi, in her complaint to the police, has accused that her soninlaw was responsible for Chaitra's suicide. The police are on the look out for Babu, who is absconding.
