BANGALORE: Members of the Karnataka Government Medical Officers Association have decided to go on a symbolic protest from November 21 if their demands are not considered by government. The association is asking for broad changes to be made in the current setup which does not provide recognition to rural service provided on contract basis for furthering Post Graduate education. They are also asking for the post of Commissioner of the department to be abolished as they feel that the post which was set up in 1998 has taken away all powers from the Director. The association has also called for a raise of a minimum of 50 per cent in the urban and rural incentives provided to doctors along with reinstatement to the post of Assistant Commissioner scale which was taken from them in 1991.
