Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had written to the Prime Minister raising this request on May 18. The Centre is yet to take any steps in this direction,” said Karunanidhi. He also flayed the Karnataka government for failing to honour its riparian commitments.“Blaming a poor monsoon, Karnataka has not released water for Tamil Nadu in these times of drought. It has persistently refused to honour the orders passed by the Supreme Court and the CWDT,” he said. Karunanidhi, however, reserved some criticism for the AIADMK leader. “Jayalalithaa had criticised the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal as toothless when it was set up in 2002...
