Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a tiny sleepy hamlet, experience Thiruvananthapuram’s ancient natural attraction Madavoorpara in a whole new way. Madavoorpara is a lesser-known, untouched destination, situated 300 feet above sea level and is very popular among pilgrims and tourists. The place is known for its cave temple and bamboo bridge.
Dating back to the 9th century AD, the rock-cut Shiva temple is a place of history. Currently under the protection of the Department of Archaeology, the rock shrine has a pillar with inscriptions in Vattezhuthu, the ancient Malayalam script. A park with swings and slides for children is another attraction for families. On this rugged hill, near a leafless white-branched tree, lies the Ganga Theertham, an evergreen sacred pond.
