Discover The Serenity Of Madavoorpara, A Hidden Gem In Thiruvananthapuram
Walk up the hill via the bamboo bridge and spend some time in a peaceful and secluded place.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a tiny sleepy hamlet, experience Thiruvananthapuram’s ancient natural attraction Madavoorpara in a whole new way. Madavoorpara is a lesser-known, untouched destination, situated 300 feet above sea level and is very popular among pilgrims and tourists. The place is known for its cave temple and bamboo bridge.

Dating back to the 9th century AD, the rock-cut Shiva temple is a place of history. Currently under the protection of the Department of Archaeology, the rock shrine has a pillar with inscriptions in Vattezhuthu, the ancient Malayalam script. The temple has attracted the attention of researchers and heritage lovers due to its archaeological and historical significance.

Walk up the hill via the bamboo bridge and spend some time in a peaceful and secluded place. The 100 m-long bamboo bridge is a sight in itself. Apart from the bridge, the bamboo huts on the rock that offer a panoramic view of the lush green surroundings are the main attractions of the place.

A park with swings and slides for children is another attraction for families. On this rugged hill, near a leafless white-branched tree, lies the Ganga Theertham, an evergreen sacred pond.

This rocky place will soon be equipped with an amphitheatre, floating huts, a water fountain, a cafeteria, a recreation centre, etc. to make it one of the major tourist attractions of the capital.

As you drive, don’t forget to listen to the singing of birds. This serene beauty will offer you an escape from the daily grind. Let the wind make your hair dance. Let it cool your mind and refresh your soul as you sit far above all the pollution and noise of the city below you.
