HYDERABAD: CPI deputy general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy on Monday demanded that the Congress-led UPA government should take steps to disclose the list of Indian depositors having saving accounts in foreign banks.Reddy, speaking to reporters at the party state headquarters here, took strong objection to the UPA government's move of filing a petition against the SIT which was appointed by the Supreme Court on the black money issue. "People suspect a large number of Congress leaders have black money stashed outside and that is why the UPA is not willing to disclose their names," he said. The CPI is supporting the Lokpal bill and wanted the government to prepare the bill effectively, he said.He opposed the Lokpal bill drafting committee appointed, comprising five ministers and five civil society representatives.Pointing out that Union minister Kapil Sibal, a member of the draft committee, had argued in favour of Justice Ramaswami who faced impeachment in the Parliament, he asked, "What is the message the UPA government wants to give to people on the Lokpal bill?""The CPI is in favour of the PM being brought under the purview of the Lokpal. We also want the Centre shouldd have a system to fix accountability for judiciary," Sudhakar Reddy said.
