Delhi Police on High Alert After al-Qaeda Threat to IPS Officers
The security alert comes after chief of Al Qaeda's Indian-Subcontinent wing Maulama Umar urged Muslims to launch lone wolf attacks on IPS officers.

Delhi Police officers have been asked to be on high alert following the attacks in Bangladesh. The security of the police officers is being reviewed at their homes and offices.

The security alert comes after chief of Al Qaeda's Indian-Subcontinent wing Maulama Umar urged Muslims to launch lone wolf attacks on IPS officers.

Delhi Police special cell has been put on alert as well. The unit had busted an al-Qaeda module in December 2015.

In June, special cell had also filed a chargesheet against 17 al-Qaeda operatives.

"We are alert. We have been dealing with terrorism since long and have always been a target. We are ready to face any challenge. We'll protect ourselves as well as the citizens," Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Arvind Deep said.

Meanwhile, in the backdrop of repeated intrusions into Jammu & Kashmir from across the border, the Intelligence Bureau has issued an alert for a possible terror attack in Kathua and Sambha in the state.

There are reports that 4 terrorists might be hiding in the area. Search operations for the terrorists are underway.
