NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the CBI and the Tihar Jail authorities to submit a report on the health condition of Karim Morani, an accused in the 2G spectrum scam and also a director of Cineyug films.Justice Ajit Bharihoke, who was hearing the matter, also directed the superintendent of the jail to provide Morani proper medical facilities as per the doctor’s advice. The judge sought a detailed report on the medical condition of Morani within two days. Morani was arrested on May 30 after the special CBI court had rejected his bail application.He also directed the CBI to verify the facts and submit a report on the medical condition of Morani on June 27, when he takes up the case again.In the interregnum, the jail superintendent will ensure that the petitioner gets proper medical treatment as advised by the doctor, who is presently treating Morani, the judge added.The order was passed after CBI counsel requested for more time to file its response on Morani’s bail application saying the jail authorities had declined to provide any information on Morani’s health condition saying that the High Court had not specified any such direction.However, senior advocate Siddharth Lutra, who appeared for Morani, requested that he be enlarged on bail as his health condition is deteriorating. Morani is currently suffering from heart ailment, he pointed out.To this, Justice Bharihoke asked counsel to submit fresh documents to stake claim. It is in the second chargesheet that the CBI had named Morani as an accused in the 2G scam, saying that he had indeed facilitated the bribe transaction of `200 crore from Shahid Balwa’s DB Realty to Kalaignar TV after taking himself `6 crore. It may recalled that Kanimozhi, who is also in the Tihar jail, happens to hold 20 percent stake in the Kalaignar TV.
