CHENNAI: The CPM state unit defended party’s leader  T K Rangarajan’s remark on Tamil Eelam while faulting the DMK patriarch for switching stands on the issue, here on Thursday. In a press release party State secretary G Ramakrishnan said that former Chief Minister Karunanidhi himself had admitted that a separate Tamil Eelam wasn’t possible. Elaborating on the stand taken by the CPM, he said that the party had always insisted upon giving maximum autonomy to the integrated North and South provinces of united Lanka.Member of parliament Rangarajan’s remarks were not just his own but based on what he had come to know from Tamil National Alliance (TNA) functionaries Sambanthan and Suresh Premachandran, who have been striving for a political solution for the affected Tamils, Ramakrishnan noted.
