VELLORE: Cops who tried to exhume the body of gas agency owner, Sukumar, who was said to have gone ‘missing’ 10 years ago, near Ranipet on Sunday could get only two bone pieces.Following the information given by one Sundar alias Sundaresan of Veppur near Arcot, who surrendered at the SP office in Vellore, on Saturday, the cops decided to exhume the body. Sundaresan allegedly told the police that he was hired by Sukumar’s wife Devaki, to murder her husband. Henchmen were hired to bump off Sukumar, who buried him at a cemetery in Ranipet, he disclosed during interrogation.Sukumar(50) a gas agency owner of of Vinterpet in Arakkonam, went missing since 2001. As per the information given by Sundaresan,a team, led by Arakkonam DSP Seetharaman, arrived at a cemetery in Karai near Ranipet to exhume the body, on Sunday. When JCB machines dug up the earth at the spot identified by Sundaresan, only two bone pieces were found. The cops have sent them for DNA test to Chennai to confirm the identity of the deceased. Police said, “We are waiting for the DNA report. Once the DNA report confirms that the bones are that of Sukumar’s, an investigation will be launched”. When contacted, sources said, Devaki said that she was still hopeful that her husband was alive and had given a missing complaint about Sukumar to the Arakkonam town police 10 years back. Devaki had also allegedly told that Sundaresan had prior enmity and threatened her demanding money.
