BHUBANESWAR: A sub-inspector (SI) of Badgarh Police Station on Tuesday allegedly misbehaved with two women in Badgarh Brit Colony here. The SI Sachidananda Satpathy has been suspended by DCP Nitinjit Singh following a complaint by the alleged victims.According to reports, Satpathy allegedly misbehaved with and manhandled the women __ Banita Mohanty and her sister Kalpana Patra __ when he had come to Banita’s house in search of their brother Sushant Mohanty in connection with an unspecified case. The cop is also alleged to have hurled abuses at them, not sparing even their aged mother Sabitri Mohanty.Kalpana, who is married and stays nearby in a rented house, said on Monday evening a PCR van came to the house with the cops therein seeking whereabouts of Sushant. They asked Kalpana and her sister to send him to the police station when he was home. They did not specify the reasons for the summon.When Sushant did not turn up at the police station by noon on Tuesday, the SI allegedly barged into Banita’s house and started abusing the womenfolk. He even manhandled them when they reportedly asked for a warrant and about the case in which he was wanted.The Mohanty family is stated to be involved in a long-standing dispute with a builder over sale of a property.Satpathy has been suspended pending investigation, the DCP said.
