BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to offer basic computer literacy classes in 550 schools. Out of the 550 schools, 500 are general schools under School and Mass Education Department and the rest are under SC and ST Development Department. It has been decided that the schools having good track record in Board examinations will be provided the facility in first phase. The experience gained from theses schools will set models for all other schools. Computer-aided teaching learning materials will be developed as per school curriculum in Mathematics, Science and English in the initial phases. It has also been decided that language laboratories will be set up in 30 district headquarter schools. Setting up of computer systems and developing of teaching learning materials will be done through expert and experienced agencies. The Department has been asked to float tenders for this.
