TALCHER: The Union Minister of State for Coal Pratik Prakashbabu Patil hoped that the current coal crisis gripping the country will end in the next two to three months.Patil on Thursday visited the Talcher coalfield as a part of his visits to major coalfields in the country amidst the crisis. He told mediapersons that the coal production in Coal India Ltd (CIL) has come down in the last two to three months due to heavy rains and for several other reasons. “But there is no proposal to scale down the annual target of CIL which has been fixed at 452 million tonne for this year,” he said.Patil also ruled out stopping of e-auction of coal as demanded by the Power Ministry as it would affect the small-scale industries.On the proposed medical college at Talcher, the Coal Minister said as soon as the State Government gives forest clearance, work on the project would resume. Patil promised to take up the demand for a separate coal company for Talcher with the Centre.The Minister after arriving at 11 am, visited some mines and rehabilitation sites before holding discussion with the MCL officials.
