MYSORE: The inaugural of the nine-day Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival in Mysore on Saturday resounded with opposition to the Made Made Snana ritual being practised at Kukke Subramanya temple. While Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas minced no words in describing it as a “social evil that should be banned”, noted litterateur D Javare Gowda, who inaugurated the festival, urged Ramdas to keep his word.“The repertory Rangayana should address social evils such as this and the Devadasi system prevailing in the Karnataka-Maharashtra border region,” he said.A film festival, book and handicraft expo and street plays too were organised on the occasion. Film director Lingadevaru, actress Rajeshwari Varma, Nataka Academy chairperson Malati Sudhir were also present.
