Chittoor Mayor brutally murdered, husband critical after attack

Chittoor Mayor Katari Anuradha was attacked and brutally murdered by three unknown persons from Karnataka in Corporation office in her chamber on Tuesday morning. She along with her husband was shot at and attacked with sharp weapons.

Police took the couple who were lying in a pool of blood and moved them to the Chittoor government hospital.

While Anuradha died on the way to the hospital, her husband Mohan was moved to the Vellore CMC Hospital in Tamil Nadu for treatment. His condition is currently very critical.

With this incident, the situation in Chittoor has become tense. Police suspect this attack to be a case of old rivalry.

Locals said that three suspects who wore the masks entered into the Mayor office, shot her and her husband on point blank range. The attacked persons escaped by jumping the gate.
