Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has instructed the officials to present the state’s case effectively before the Central team which will be visiting reservoirs in Cauvery basin on Friday to assess the ground situation.
A team of officials led by Water Resources Department Chief Engineer Jacob will visit the KRS on Friday.
Shettar held a meeting with a few ministers and senior officials, including chief secretary VS Ranganath on Thursday evening and asked the officials to present state’s case effectively with facts and figures about water level in Cauvery reservoirs and also its requirement for standing crops and drinking purpose. Forest Minister CP Yogeshwar who is also the In-charge Minister of Mandya district, the epicentre of Cauvery agitation told reporters that the state government would apprise the Central team about the ground situation. He said that the Supreme Court might take up the state’s review petition for hearing on Friday.
