Census on religion: Christian population has best sex ratio, Sikhs worst
One highlight of the census is that the sex ratio has improved across all the religions, leading to a better all India sex ratio.

The Narendra Modi government on Tuesday released a census based on religious affiliation of people in India. The first-of-its-kind census of Indian population highlighted several aspects such as that the Muslim population grew the most as compared to Hindus, Christians and Sikhs.

Another highlight of the census is that the sex ratio has improved across all the religions, leading to a better all India sex ratio. While the all-India sex ratio as per 2001 census was 933 females for every 1000 males, it now stands at 943 females for every 1000 males.

According to the Census data released by the government, the Christians have the best sex story, which was the scenario in 2001 as well. Among Christians, there are 1023 females for every 1000 males. This is a slight improvement over the 2001 value of 1009 females for every 1000 males.

The sex ratio is, however, worst in the Sikh community, despite improving slightly from the Census data in 2001. While the number in 2001 was 893 females for every 1000 males, it has shown an improvement in the latest census with 903 females for every 1000 males.

Among Hindus, the sex ratio stands at 939 females for every 1000 males while in Muslims, there are 951 females for every 1000 males.
