New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday allowed CBI to interrogate Medical Council of India president Ketan Desai and three others for three more days in custody in connection with alleged transaction of Rs 2 crore meant for according recognition to a Punjab-based private medical college.
Additional Sessions Judge OP Saini allowed the plea of investigating agency that further custodial interrogation of the accused was required in view of their alleged non- cooperation in the ongoing probe of the massive scam.
"All the four accused are remanded in police custody till May 1," the court said.
Earlier, CBI prosecutor said "one Paul (alleged mediator between the MCI president and the private college authorities) is yet to be arrested. And the four accused, who have been assisted by a battery of lawyers, are not forthcoming. Their through interrogation in custody is required to collect evidence in this case."
