New Delhi: Delhi is considered one of the most unsafe cities in the country and with valid reasons. Even those with relatives and connections with the high and mighty are not safe.

In a shocking and brutal incident that has sent shock waves across the city, the brother-in-law of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Vijay Shanker, KD Tripathi, was found murdered at his residence in south Delhi on Wednesday evening.

Tripathi, a senior citizen, had injury marks all over his body which was found in the servant quarters with hands tied to a chair.

According to the police, robbery seems to be the motive behind the murder.

However, they also added that the entry into the house seemed 'friendly' but the house had been ransacked and it seemed that Tripathi had put up stiff resistance to the assailants.

He was living alone as his wife was visiting their daughter in the United States.

Tripathi retired as a senior engineer with Sindri Copper at Khetri in Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan). His wife and Vijay Shankar's wife are sisters. Tripathi's younger brother was also an Indian Police Service Officer and was a former Director General of Police of Bihar.

Tripathi had one other daughter who is settled in the United Kingdom while his son is settled in Australia.

The gardener of the neighbouring house noticed the front door of the house open and rang the doorbell but when he got no response, he went to the servant quarters where he found Tripathi's body.

What's your reaction?
