BANGALORE: A study tour of Gandhi Krishi Vignyan Kendra (KGVK) students turned tragic when ten students sustained injuries after the bus in which they were travelling turned turtle due to alleged rash and negligent driving by its driver. The incident was reported at the underpass near Magadi Road Toll Gate on West of Chord on Saturday morning. A student, identified as Imran, has sustained serious injuries in the incident.About 47 people including 15 staff and 32 postgraduate students and research scholars, among whom six were women, were heading for Madikeri on a study tour.According to the police, the bus driver was overspeeding the bus and in a bid to overtake a vehicle, he rammed the bus into the road median and hit an electric pole. The bus turtled. There were no more vehicles passing around the bus. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals and were given first aid.“The bus had fell across the road blocking the movement of other vehicles. However, alternate arrangement was made for free movement of vehicles immediately,” the police added.The bus driver has absconded after the incident. The Kamakshipalya traffic police who have registered a case are looking out for him. Further investigations are on, they said.
