ALUVA: The Brahmana Samooham, at its annual general body meeting on Wednesday, urged the government to launch a bus service through the Siva temple at Thottakkattukara here. They sought diversion of some of the bus services from Aluva, Paravoor, Angamaly and Kalady sides through Thottakkattukara Ganapathy temple, Manalpuram, GCDA Road and Paravoor Junction. Everyday, hundreds of devotees were thronging the Siva temple on the Sivarathri Manalpuram to offer tharpanam, the members said. They also urged the government to take necessary steps to stop all trains at Aluva.Aluva Brahmana Samooham president H Narayana Iyer reminded the values of Brahmanism and the need for unity of the community. He said that the 'Rudhra Bhoomi' should be kept clean and tidy. Iyer distributed the Educational Merit Award, 2011 to the children of the Brahmana Samooham members who secured meritorious marks in the SSLC, PlusTwo, degree examinations. Secretary S Venkatesh presented the annual report and R H S Mony presented the statement of account. H Narayana Iyer and K G V Pathy were elected president and secretary respectively of the Aluva Brahmana Samooham for 201114. C G Subramanian was elected returning officer. S Venkatesh, K Rajan, R H Subramani and T S Ramachandran are the other officebearers. N R Hariharaputhran, K N Ananthanarayanan, Ramakrishnan R Iyer, A Balakrishnan, P H Gopalakrishnan, P K Gopalakrishnan, T K Natarajan, K Rengaswamy and Kalyani Hariharan were chosen members of the executive committee.
