KOCHI: Shifting of many bus services from Kaloor private bus stand and KSRTC stand left the vendors in dismay. The number of passengers coming to the stands has witnessed a sudden drop after the many bus services were rescheduled through Vytilla Mobility Hub.The full-fledged functioning of the Vytilla Mobility Hub night services will only worsen the situation for vendors in the KSRTC bus stand. Two KSRTC stand shops, a tea shop and a hotel, have already closed down due to financial crunch. Shamsu, who manages five shops in the KSRTC stand, said that they are facing a huge fall in revenue. “We are giving around `1 lakh as rent. We approached the Corporation to allow some relaxation in rent after the services were cut short and are yet to receive a reply,” Shamsu added. He added that the authorities did not inform them about the change in bus routes when they invited tenders for shops in the KSRTC stand in November. The vendors in the Kaloor bus stand have been promised by the hub authorities to be shifted there as and when it develops. However, they have not been given any time period for the proceedings. “The shops in the Kaloor stand are on the brink of shut down as most of the vendors are facing financial problems,” said Abdulla, Pettikada Vyapadi Association leader.Sadly, there have been no promises made to the vendors in the KSRTC stand. They are set to demand shop space in the mobility hub with a moderate rent to shift their business.
