CHENNAI: Burglars broke into a state-run Tasmac shop and decamped with Rs 1.26 lakh at Choolaimedu on Sunday. Sources said the Tasmac shop (no 468) was located on 100 Feet Road in Koyambedu. On Sunday night, the employees downed the shutters as usual and left. In the morning, the shutter was found partially open and the cops were alerted. Senior officers, including ACP Jagabarsali and inspector Sekar visited the spot and conducted an inquiry. They found Rs 1.26 lakh kept in the safe was missing, but the lock had not been broken. The Choolaimedu police have registered a case and are investigating whether it was an ‘inside job’.
