BANGALORE: In a move to improve his public image, Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev plans to reach out to students by visiting colleges to  get a first-hand experience of their grievances.“I want to visit more colleges as we have been executing rules that we think are good for the students,” said Prabhu Dev. He visited V V Puram Degree College on January 3, where he answered students’ doubts ranging from the establishment of Bangalore School of Economics to discrepancies in examinations and exam fees. He said that he wants to visit as many colleges as possible before the end of his tenure. “I had originally planned to visit one college every week. However, due to administrative work, I have decided to visit at least one college in a month,” he said, adding that it was important for students to interact with the Head of the university. “It is a conscious effort to meet students and understand their problems,” said Prabhu Dev. His decision comes in the wake of several ongoing controversies in BU, the most notable ones being the proposed School of Economics, his alleged absence in Jnana Bharathi campus and a pending inquiry initiated by Governor H R Bharadwaj into the recent slew of protests and the attack on Distance Education director Dr B R Niranjan. “I will not be alone during my visits. I will be accompanied by a team comprising Registrar (Evaluation), special officers, academic advisers and others,” he said.
