HYDERABAD: A constable with the Border Security Force (BSF), G M Reddy, a native of Kadapa district, shot himself with his service rifle in Koteshwar in Kutch region of Gujarat on Thursday.Though an enquiry is underway into the incident, BSF officials say that domestic issues could have driven the constable to resort to the extreme step.Reddy was with the 117 battalion of BSF and posted to Koteshwar, some 200 km from the Indo-Pakistan border.A senior BSF official told Express over telephone from Koteshwar that Reddy had joined duty on Wednesday after returning from a twomonth long leave. ‘’He shot himself in his head with his service weapon on Thursday morning,’’ the offical said.Twenty-five-year-old Reddy joined the BSF in 2002.In the service records, he mentioned his mother’s name as the next of kin (NoK) (she would be eligible to get all benefits in the case of his death). "He got married later,’’ the official said, adding that domestic issues appear to have driven the constable to resort to the extreme step. ‘’We are investigating the reasons,’’ he said. The BSF officials are making arrangements to send Reddy’s body to his native town after the post-moterm."The body will reach Bangalore in the next couple of days and then taken to his home town with full honours,’’ the BSF official said.
