MADURAI: What was seemed to be an accident took a different turn as a murder, in the case in which an eight-year-old boy was found dead in an wooden box in Tirumangalam near here on Monday.According to police sources, Jeyasuriya, (8), son of Palani, went missing since Saturday afternoon and a police complaint has been received in this regard. It was earlier believed to be a tragic accident which claimed the life of the young one, but things changed as the postmortem reveals horrific details. According to informed sources, the boy could have been sexually abused. In course of the abuse, the boy could have cried not withstanding the pain. Fearing the wrath of the villagers in case the boy reveals the truth to his parents or someone else, the accused could have then murdered the boy. The boy could have been strangulated to death by the culprit. Police have taken a few persons for questioning and the investigation is on. During the postmortem, it was revealed that his anus was torn in an unusual manner and was bleeding. The neck of the boy was also broken. According to police sources, further details will be revealed only through the postmortem report which is yet to be issued by Thirumangalam general hospital.On Sunday evening, unbearable stench was emanating from the school building which was closed on Friday evening.The school doors were forced open and the boy was believed to have entered the school through a wide crack in one of the windows of the school.Police who rushed to the spot recovered the body and had sent the body for postmortem. Forensic bureau’s help was also sought by the police to trace other fingerprints and sniffer dog service was also utilised by the police. The murder could have happened only after 4.30 pm on Saturday which was the last time he had been spotted by his playmates on that day. The woes of the family has compounded as now they grieve over the fact that the child may have been sexually abused and then murdered.
